How
do I upgrade from MCart 2.0.4SM to MCart
4.0SM or MCart Pro 4.0SM?
A.
Upgrading from prior versions of MCart to MCart 4.0SM
or MCart Pro 4.0SM is easy. To do so,
log into your Control Panel, and select the option for "Install
Shopping Cart". At the next screen, you'll note that you have
the ability to install the PGP version of MCart 4.0SM,
the Linkpoint Gateway version of MCart 4.0SM
or the MCPS version of MCart 4.0SM. Select
the proper option, and complete the upgrade configurations
as necessary according to your previous shop installation.
Click the submit button and confirm that the shop installs
by getting the success message.
At this screen, you may note that there is a link to report
errors. This error reporting is for customers who used '$20
each' instead of "$20" in their pricing for items.
Simple errors are reported to assist shopkeepers during the
upgrade.
Also, your old MCart version is still available. The old MCart
is tarred or compressed for your use if necessary in the future.
After the upgrade, you are using MCart 4.0SM.
If you wish to upgrade to MCart ProSM,
which has the features
listed here proceed to your AIT order form at https://order.aitcom.net/

What
exactly is MCart(SM)?
A.
MCartSM is a shopping cart/webstore/catalogue
builder that turns your web site into a web store with
full electronic commerce capability.
What
is MCart Pro(SM)?
A.
MCart ProSM is the same great FREE shopping
cart that you've been using, but with more features for the
advanced shopkeeper. With advanced inventory tracking,
the tracking of shipments via FedEx, UPS, and the USPS, sales
control for allowing sales for specified time period for specified
products, and many other features. MCart ProSM
is available at a FRACTION of the cost of other major shopping
carts, and supplied to you via the same hosting company that
supports your hosting account; not a 3rd party company
who doesn't have access to fix problems with your current
cart.
How
do I get different shipping costs that are are not available
in the shipping options?
A.
Add items to the inventory for the extra cost shipping. So,
for example, you might create a category called "Shipping
Options" that contained an item called "2nd Day
UPS" which costs $5, and another item called "Overnight
FedEx" which costs $11. Shoppers can then
add these items to their carts to have the extra shipping
charge added automatically.
Can
a retailer deny an order that they think is an invalid order?
A.If
you are using MCartSM without the transaction
server and gateway, the following applies. When the orders
come into the retailer's mailbox, the retailer views the order
and makes a decision whether to process or delete the
order. If you are using the transaction server and gateway,
the order is passed through the gateway for authorization
and the capture and transfer of funds to your merchant account.
There is extensive fraud protection built in to the transaction
server and gateway.
How
do I get started with the Ecommerce Solution?
A.
First, get an AIT web hosting account which gives you access
to MCartSM or MCart ProSM,
a merchant account, and the transaction server and gateway.
Then, use the FREE MCartSM to configure
your store while you setup your Merchant Account and Transaction
Gateway through AIT's Partners, 1stCommerce and MCPS.
If
I have my own merchant account will it work with MCPS's Gateway?
A.
Yes, most internet compliant merchant accounts will work with
MCPS's Gateway.
How
long will it take me to install MCart?
A.
Installation of MCartSM should not take
more than 10 minutes and we you can do it for you very
easily..
Once it is set up, you will be given instructions and access
to begin entering your products. The point and click installation allows for quick upgrades
when necessary and the easy-to-manage administration area
allows for quick setup of inventory.
When
my customers go to the checkout what happens to their order
from there?
A.
When they go to the check out for MCartSM
or MCart ProSM and you are using the Transaction
Gateway, their order will be transferred to the 1st Commerce
secure server. Once there, the customer will input their billing
information for processing, verification and payment.
The customer will receive email verification of the order
also.
A. If
you're using the PGP version of MCartSM
or MCart ProSM, their order will be transferred
to a generic secure server. Once their, the customer
will input their billing information for processing, verification
and payment. The
customer will receive email verification of the order also.
What
happens to the order after it is submitted?
A.
The checkout program emails a copy of the order to the customer
as a confirmation that the order was received.
Does
MCartSM allow for sales tax?
A.
Yes. Your shop can be configured to automatically add sales
tax to orders placed from a given state. You can select the
state where you wish to charge sales tax, and the enter current
tax rate. You may select no tax by leaving the state
blank or by setting the tax rate to zero. You may also specify
individual items in your inventory that are not subject to
sales tax.
Is
there a way I can configure the new online store to use my secure
server as a default server?
A.
No, the check out requires our checkout code and specifically
configured PGP software, which AIT will not provide for use
outside of the 1stCommerce secure server, and the generic
secure server.
What
if I can get into the MCartSM Administration
page for each of my sites fine, but I can not progress into
any of the set up areas via the buttons?
A. If you experience
this problem please contact AIT's Customer Service.
What
if I want to feature an item that is way down on my Inventory
Sheet?
A.
One way to get your customers to a specific item is as follows.
For example, if you want to specify "FP-98 professional
edition" software, then in the name field, use an HTML
NAME tag in the "Item Name" field.
example- Inventory Item Name:
<A NAME="fp98">FP-98 professional edition</A>
